FAQs about e-NACH
1. What is an e-NACH?
A mandate / NACH is a standing instruction to a bank to debit the client’s account on a periodic basis for transactions such as Loan Installment Payment. There are two ways to set up a mandate:
(i) Offline Mandate - This requires submitting a physical mandate request form, which usually takes around 21 days including transit time.
(ii) E-Mandate / E-Nach (Online Mandate) - This process is digital and paperless, involving net-banking authentication. It is available in real-time on the WBMDFC website.
2. Is E-mandate registration available for all banks?
Currently E- Mandate feature is available for 36 major banks.
3. How long does it take to register E-Mandate?
E-Mandate registration is REAL Time.
For banks where E-mandate facility is not available (beyond the 36 banks), Offline mandate registration needs to be done, which takes around 21 days’ time (including the transit time).
4. What would happen when there is name mismatch between the Bank a/c?
In-case of name mismatch, applicant cannot proceed with E-Mandate NPCI guidelines. For such cases applicants have to follow Offline Mandate.
5. Is it possible to delete/cancel/edit the mandate?
Yes, you can cancel the mandate anytime on a real time basis by going to your respective bank or using Netbanking.
6. Are there any charges for mandate registration?
No, it is absolutely free. WBMDFC does not charge anything to applicant for this facility.
However few banks may charge applicants an amount ranging from Re 1/- to Rs 5/- for Emandate registration. It completely depends on applicant’s bank and the relationship that applicant has with the bank.
7. How will customer provide his credentials?
For “Internet banking” authentication, customer will be prompted to enter the login and password credentials. Whereas for “Debit card” authentication, Debit card number and OTP details will be requested. Banks may introduce additional checks and balances as well, as per their internal policies.
8. What is the penalty for ECS bounce?
Physical NACH / e-NACH bounce charges depend on the bank and can range from Rs. 250 to Rs. 500, plus GST. Each bank sets its own fee.
